Deportes y Alcaldía del Distrito intervendrán Club Billy Thompson y parque Rosa Duarte
Santo Domingo.- El Ministerio de Deportes y la Alcaldía del Distrito Nacional anunciaron que intervendrán las instalaciones del Club Deportivo y Cultural Billy Thompson y el parque Rosa Duarte, ubicados en el populoso barrio de Mejoramiento Social (Bameso), en la capital.
Francisco Camacho, ministro de Deportes, y Carolina Mejía, alcaldesa de la ciudad Primada de América realizaron una visita al emblemático club que entrena a los jóvenes y niños en boxeo.
Camacho garantizó que esa instalación será intervenida completamente, no solo para practicar deportes, sino para pueda ser utilizada por la comunidad para otras actividades.
“Le vamos a embellecer el club, las utilerías que haya que cambiarles, se las vamos a cambiar, porque lo merece la juventud”, dijo el funcionario al culminar el recorrido.
“Estamos aquí también porque es uno de los clubes más significativos en boxeo, incluso, fue fundado en 1973, ha aportado al país dos campeones del mundo y continúa formando a muchos jóvenes en ese deporte”, expresó Camacho.
El ministro valoró el trabajo que realizan en los barrios clubes como el Billy Thompson, que impactan a los jóvenes, ya que los atraen al deporte y los alejan de los peligros de las calles.
La alcaldesa
Por otro lado, y como parte de su segundo año de gestión, Carolina Mejía se comprometió con el arreglo del parque Rosa Duarte que incluye el remozamiento del área exterior, instalación de juegos infantiles y la colocación de un gran letrero que identifique que indique a los visitantes que han llegado a la ciudad de Santo Domingo.
“En estas inspecciones que hacemos, observamos este pabellón de boxeo y le pedimos al ministro que nos acompañara para ver qué cosa podíamos hacer para que estas instalaciones mejoren, ya que está dentro del parque Rosa Duarte”, manifestó la alcaldesa.
Ambos funcionarios recibieron explicaciones de las necesidades del club por parte del entrenador de boxeo Miguel Castillo.
