La Embajada de los EE. UU. inaugura un nuevo local de su Agencia Consular en Puerto Plata

Puerto Plata, R.D.- La Embajada de los Estados Unidos inauguró las nuevas instalaciones de su agencia consular en la Plaza El Doral de la carretera Luperón en Puerto Plata, en las que se ofrecerán servicios consulares a ciudadanos estadounidenses que visitan y viven en la costa norte del país.

El cónsul general William Swaney encabezó la ceremonia de apertura junto al ministro de Turismo, David Collado. En sus palabras de apertura, el cónsul general Swaney agradeció la presencia de las autoridades del Gobierno dominicano y declaró que “la agencia consular es un recurso fundamental para las decenas de miles de estadounidenses que visitan la región cada semana … La labor de esta oficina contribuye a impulsar el crecimiento económico y la creación de empleo, al mismo tiempo que enriquece las vidas y refuerza los vínculos entre los estadounidenses y los dominicanos que llaman hogar a este lugar”.

El ministro de Turismo, David Collado, destacó la importancia de esta nueva oficina consular en Puerto Plata, donde llegan miles de turistas estadounidenses. “Esta nueva oficina consular aquí, en la Novia del Atlántico, será, sin lugar a dudas, de gran beneficio en esta zona, en especial para los miles de turistas norteamericanos que prefieren a Puerto Plata como uno de sus destinos favoritos”, dijo el ministro Collado.

Recordó que Estados Unidos sigue siendo el principal destino emisor de turistas para la República Dominicana.

La agencia consular estará abierta al público de lunes a viernes, de 8:00 a.m. a 1:00 p.m. y de 2:00 p.m. a 5:00 p.m. excepto los días festivos de los EE.UU. y la República Dominicana. Los ciudadanos estadounidenses recibirán servicios de asistencia de emergencia, renovación y solicitudes rutinarias de pasaportes y servicios notariales.

Los servicios que se ofrecían en el antiguo local de la calle Villanueva esq. Juan Bosch ahora estarán disponibles en esta nueva ubicación, en la Plaza El Doral, la cual le permitirá a la Embajada continuar ofreciendo una asistencia de emergencia más efectiva en la región y ahorrar a los solicitantes el traslado hasta la sede en Santo Domingo.
